NGC - One Year Later

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) is the sole aggregator and merchant of natural gas in the country.   Upon his appointment as President of NGC in September 2016, Mark Loquan inherited several challenges in an already turbulent natural gas-based energy sector. He was faced with natural gas supply challenges and a mature and declining upstream landscape.

In light of the situation, NGC actively negotiated for new gas supplies and continues to manage the supply of natural gas to the downstream petrochemical industry; negotiated and executed bilateral and multilateral agreements to augment supply; assiduously worked with bpTT to complete the heavy lift platform to support Juniper; played an active role in negotiating a gas supply from the Dragon field with the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

NGC completed a strategic plan around key focus areas and pillars that allowed the company to transform its way of doing business, by placing critical emphasis on cost optimization and rationalization measures designed to stabilise revenues; by being amenable, motivated and responsive to changes within the sector; by cementing synergies amongst member companies within the NGC Group; and, by securing its current business portfolio while growing its interests, locally and internationally.
