Exxon has contracted the Stena Carron deep-water drillship to conduct their 2016 drilling campaign offshore Guyana. In May 2015, Exxon had a major discovery at the Liza prospect in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana, and have moved fast to drill a further appraisal well and to explore new “look alike” prospects on the block in a campaign due to start in early 2016. The Stena Carron drill ship is currently located off the coast of Las Palmas, Canary Islands.
According to Rigzone, the ship is currently carrying the status “Ready Stacked” which means that the rig is idle but operational with most of its crew and can quickly be deployed if an operator requires it.
