BHP has reported positive news from their on-going Calypso appraisal drilling campaign in the deep waters north east of Tobago. BHP, through their Q3 operational review, confirmed that the Calypso appraisal well, Bongos-3 encountered hydrocarbons. This well was spud back in July.
BHP also indicated that a side track (Bongos 3X), is currently being drilled to complete the appraisal.
In addition, the company stated that the Bongos-4 well (spud on 6 August 2021) is currently suspended, and operations are due to recommence following the completion of Bongos-3X operations.
The operational review also confirmed that Bongos3X and 4 are targeting gas.
BHP recently successfully delivered first production from Ruby offshore Trinidad. Ruby is anticipated to produce 16,000 barrels of crude per day and approximately 80 million gross standard cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The company also indicated that in Barbados, the government has approved a proposed seismic program which BHP plans to acquire a 3D seismic survey over a portion of the Bimshire and Carlisle Bay blocks.
The survey is expected to commence in the December 2021 quarter.
