While basic leadership principles have endured over time, the skills required to lead in the world have changed. Now more than ever, the hyper-connectedness of the world demands competencies such as collaboration and co-opetition to sustain enterprise and contribute to the public good. At this time, when we are confronted with a volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous and hyperconnected world, our technical skills are no longer sufficient to enable progress. The new world order has elevated the need for competencies that would enable persons and organisations to grow and thrive, as they master the VUCAH world.
