This presentation is based on both the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act and Industrial Court case law, and therefore consolidates the basic requirements of the Act with the principles the Court has developed over the years as a matter of good industrial relations practice. The Presentation therefore addresses issues such as consultation with the Union, selection criteria and suitable alternative employment, inter alia.
