Perenco Trinidad has partnered with the NESC-Technical Institute on an initiative to deliver customised training programmes for residents of Mayaro and surrounding communities.
According to the NESC, the training programmes were designed by subject matter experts in alignment with the ISO 21001 Educational Management Standard. They were delivered by either resident instructors or industry professionals, depending on specific training requirements.
Through this partnership, eight programmes were delivered at the NESC Mayaro Campus from June to October 2025. These covered several areas, including air-conditioning and refrigeration installation and repairs, electrical installation, plumbing, computer training (MS Word, Excel, etc.), and customer service.
This initiative continues a shared commitment to empowering communities through skills development and creating pathways to employment.
The NESC’s primary purpose is building human capital in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The organisation has its genesis in a Trust Deed between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) and the then Atlantic LNG Company Limited, established to address the pressing demand for skilled welders on the Atlantic LNG Train 1 project.
Earlier this year, Perenco completed the acquisition of Woodside’s producing oil and gas assets in Trinidad and Tobago. This move, along with the acquisition of bpTT’s Cashima, Amherstia, Flamboyant, and Immortelle (CAFI) fields, has significantly expanded their portfolio. With these acquisitions, it is estimated that Perenco is now the second-largest hydrocarbon producer in T&T on a barrel of oil equivalent basis.
