The Energy Chamber hosted its Post AGM Event: Building Guyana - T&T Private Sector Collaboration on October 24th 2025. The event featured a keynote address by Kathy Smith, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) which was followed by a panel discussion with leaders from several energy services companies in T&T. The discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration and the removal of non-tariff barriers and alleviating port congestion issues.
During the visit by Kathy Smith, a commitment was made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago for the development of the private sector in both countries. The MOU will be centered around developing avenues for collaboration in the following:
1. Skills development and knowledge transfer
2. Local content development
3. Shared best practices
4. HSE development
5. Procurement of goods and services
6. Trade missions and study tours
Speaking about the MOU, Dr Thackwray Driver, President and CEO of the Energy Chamber said, “We look forward to deepening relations with our counterparts in Guyana as we collaborate toward strengthening the private sector role in the development of both countries' energy sector.
