Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries along with Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; Ms. Karinsa Tulsie, Permanent Secretary (Ag.) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; and Mr. Marc Rudder, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with the heads of all energy related state enterprises.
The purpose of the meeting was to apprise the energy ministers on the current state of operations of the companies present and to chart the way forward for continued discussions to focus on priority areas. At the meeting, Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal acknowledged the critical role of the energy sector for the economy of Trinidad and Tobago.
The meeting represented one of the first steps taken by the new Ministers to actively engage with key energy stakeholders to prioritize the Government’s energy agenda. The Honourable Minister Ernesto Kesar stated the importance of applying a people-centric approach to Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector. Both Ministers reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring that each citizen reaps the benefits of the nation’s resources.
The State Enterprises represented at the meeting were Heritage Petroleum Company Limited, Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited, Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, Power Generation Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, The National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago, The NGC Green Company Limited, Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited, Trinidad Generation Unlimited and Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited.
