

Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries along with executives from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with Dr. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz, Chargé d’Affaires and other senior officials from the U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago.
At the meeting, the Honourable Minister Dr. Moonilal emphasized the longstanding positive relationship between the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the United States of America. The Honorable Minister also conveyed greetings to the Chargé d’Affaires on behalf of the Honourable Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Kamla Persad- Bissessar expressly echoing her commitment to continuing to partner with the U.S. in various sectors and to deepening the relationship between both countries.
Similarly, the Chargé d’Affaires acknowledged the deep ties between the United States of America and Trinidad and Tobago in many different areas such as energy security, law enforcement and cybersecurity. She noted the presence of American companies that are a part of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector, as well as the trading relationship between both countries and gave her commitment to continuing to build on the partnership and trust that has existed for decades.
The Honourable Minister Dr. Moonilal highlighted some of Ministry’s areas of focus for the energy sector, including the re-emergence of Trinidad and Tobago as the ‘Energy Leader of the Caribbean’ by leveraging our history, knowledge and people. He also spoke of Government’s commitment to the restart of refining operations in the country.
The meeting was very fruitful and will lead the way to continued collaboration between both parties aimed at achieving targets that are mutually beneficial to both countries and to the region as a whole.
