A joint venture between EOG Resources and BP has reached a major milestone in Trinidad and Tobago's natural gas sector with the successful local fabrication and loadout of the Coconut offshore jacket.
The structure was constructed by Trinidad Offshore Fabricators Company Unlimited (TOFCO). Its deployment follows just days after the loadout and installation of the Manatee jacket, marking the second major offshore platform TOFCO has dispatched within a single month.
First gas from the offshore development is expected in 2027.
Industry stakeholders noted that the back-to-back delivery of the Manatee and Coconut jackets highlights the capacity of Trinidad and Tobago's local workforce and engineering sector to execute complex offshore infrastructure projects to international safety and operational standards.
The National Gas Company (NGC) of Trinidad and Tobago recently negotiated an agreement to off-take 100% of EOG’s share of the Coconut field's gas.
