bp’s Juniper facility in Trinidad and Tobago has achieved its highest daily gas production since start-up nine years ago, reaching 700 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d).

In a social media update, bp said the output was equivalent to roughly 30% of Trinidad and Tobago’s total gas production. The company credited teams working across wells, subsurface, projects and offshore operations with delivering the milestone.

bp also reported that engineers had used a sidetrack to access additional gas reserves through an existing well. The company described the operation as a regional first, although the post did not specify the technical feature that made it a first.

Juniper began production in 2017, with bp announcing first gas on August 14 that year. It was the company’s first subsea field development in Trinidad and Tobago.

The company said further drilling activity and the planned addition of Ginger’s subsea wells in 2027 would build on its existing operations. Ginger will comprise four subsea wells tied back to the Mahogany B platform. bp’s project information specifies that its flexible pipelines will connect to Mahogany B, while its umbilicals will connect to Juniper. First gas is expected in 2027.
