The Honourable Stuart Young M.P, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister and Permanent Secretary (Ag) Fraser met with Ms. Shiva McMahon Head of International Operations, Mr. Juan Vazquez Country Manager, Woodside Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Carla Noel-Mendez Manager, Corporate Affairs, Woodside Trinidad and Tobago.
Ms McMahon was appointed Head of International Operations after the completion of the merger of BHP and Woodside Energy Group Limited on June 1st, 2022. She previously held the role of General Manager of Australia Production Unit at BHP Petroleum.
According to the Ministry, the meeting marked the first official meeting with the Woodside team and Ms. McMahon thanked the Minster for the opportunity to meet and for the support that Trinidad and Tobago has provided to BHP. She noted that the merger provides a great opportunity to bring the best of the both companies together to maximise benefits. In response, Minister Young welcomed Ms. McMahon and Mr. Vazquez and acknowledged the continued presence of Woodside in Trinidad and Tobago and expressed his willingness on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago to continue the already existing relationship with the company.
The meeting covered several topics including the opportunities for future collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and Woodside Energy Group Limited under their three pillars of operation - oil, gas and new energy. Both Minister Young and the Woodside team agreed upon further meetings with the technical teams of both parties in the near future to explore the opportunities for collaboration.
