The Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P., Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister along with Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Ms. Sandra Fraser, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and Ms. Karinsa Tulsie, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Industries, met with representatives of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ Head Office Port-of-Spain on 6th November 2023 as part of a two-day knowledge sharing energy sector visit by PETRONAS to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The participating PETRONAS representatives are Mr. Adnan Zainol Abidin, COO, PETRONAS and EVP and CEO Gas Business; Mr. Abang Yusuf Abang Puteh, SVP, LNG Assets; Mr. M. Yusof Abdullah, Senior GM, Strategy and Business Development, Gas Business; Mr. Sani Zuhairi Zainudin, Senior GM, Strategy and Business Development, Gas Business and Mr. Mohd Aimran Mohamed, Executive Assistant to COO and EVP and CEO Gas Business.
On the first day of the delegation’s visit, Ministry of Energy and Energy officials gave an overview of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector with a focus on bid rounds, available blocks, the potential of deep water, renewable energy, and LNG production. In an effort to build international relationships and business opportunities, representatives of our major national energy sector companies also took the opportunity to meet with the high level PETRONAS delegation at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. These included Dr. Joseph Khan, Chairman NGC; Mr. Mark Loquan, President NGC; Mr. Michael Quamina SC, Chariman Heritage Petroleum Limited; Mr Erik Keskula, CEO Heritage Petroleum Limited; and Dr. Vernon Platoo, President National Energy.
Day-one of the two-day knowledge sharing energy sector visit to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries for the PETRONAS, Malaysia representatives, ended with a presentation delivered by Mr. Mark Loquan, President at the National Gas Company (NGC) at the NGC’s Office, Point Lisas.
The two-day visit by PETRONAS, Malaysia to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an outcome of the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries’ travels to Vancouver, Canada in July 2023 where he met with Mr. Adnan Zainol Abidin. It demonstrates the strong interest of international stakeholders in building relationships with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in particular with respect to the energy sector.
At day-two of the knowledge sharing visit, the PETRONAS, Malaysia representatives will visit Atlantic LNG, Point Fortin.
