The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) has announced the successful execution of another Gas Sales Contract (GSC) with downstream petrochemical producer, Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited (TRINGEN). TRINGEN is one of the longest-operating ammonia producers on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate.

According to the NGC, the execution of this contract reinforces the longstanding commercial relationship between the two companies, and reaffirms their shared commitment to sustaining Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical industry.

TRINGEN, a limited liability company, owned 51 per cent by National Enterprises Limited (NEL) and 49 per cent by Yara Caribbean (2002) Ltd, is a leading manufacturer of anhydrous ammonia, operating two independent production plants – TRINGEN I and TRINGEN II – as well as a gas turbine power generation facility. Present at the signing were NGC Chairman Mr. Gerald I. Ramdeen and President (Ag.), Mr. Edmund Subryan, alongside TRINGEN’s Chairman, Mr. Emerson Chedee and Mr. Treveno Mowassie, Vice President, Operations.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Subryan noted, “NGC and TRINGEN share a longstanding and productive partnership, and the successful conclusion of this agreement reflects the dedication and professionalism of the legal and commercial teams on both sides. It demonstrates the value of sustained collaboration within our energy sector and reinforces our collective commitment to supporting the natural gas value chain and maintaining Trinidad and Tobago’s position as a reliable ammonia producer.”

Chairman Ramdeen commended the efforts of the respective legal and commercial teams and the leadership of both companies that worked diligently to achieve this result. He stated, “The execution of this contract reflects the strength of an enduring partnership between NGC and TRINGEN built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to the development of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector. The terms that have been agreed evidence the shared purpose of ensuring the maximum return to the people of this country from the monetising of their natural resources at every point in the gas value chain. “By securing continued gas supply to support ammonia production, this contract contributes to sustaining economic activity at Point Lisas and reinforces NGC’s role in supporting the longterm viability of the petrochemical industry.”

The NGC last week also announced the completion and execution of a new gas sales contract with Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited (PLNL). To read more click here:
