+ What are the payment options?

We accept the following card payments: Linx, Visa, Mastercard, Wi Pay. No cash is accepted at the office; persons paying with cash will be given a deposit slip to take to FCB (next door) to make the payment

+ Where are we located?

We are on the western end of the ground floor of Atlantic Plaza, Point Lisas.

+ What are our opening hours?

Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Closed: Week-ends and all public holidays

+ Are PLEA assessments done anywhere else?

No, we are the sole organization responsible for the administering of the PLEA exam and the issuing of the PLEA cards.

+ Is training mandatory?

Training is not mandatory, but it is recommended. We offer 2 options for training: (1) Computer based training - $350 plus VAT (2) Classroom based training: offered Thursdays only; must pre-register - $500 plus VAT (includes the cost for the exam)

+ What happens if I lose my PLEA Card?

If it is still valid, then you must present a Police report showing that you have reported it lost and a valid ID before the replacement card can be issued. The cost for a replacement is currently $100.00.

If it is expired, then a Police report, valid ID and re-take of the exam are required.

+ Who can take a PLEA assessment?

Nationals of Trinidad & Tobago can take the exam by presenting a valid form of identification

Non- Nationals: need to present a passport and any one of the following: valid work permit or CSME certificate or residency certificate Note: if these documents are not provided then the PLEA will be issued to non-nationals for 30 days

+ What does the exam consist of?

The exam has 50 multiple choice questions It is one hour long. The pass mark is 75%

+ Is there a self-study option?

Yes, all the exam materials are provided on our website including a sample of the questions. If you wish you can use these materials to self-study

+ Who owns the Learning Centre?

The Learning Centre is 100% owned by the Energy Chamber of Trinidad & Tobago, a not-for-profit membership organisation registered under the Companies Act of T&T. Membership of the Energy Chamber comprises over three hundred companies and individuals, primarily operating in the energy and related sectors. The Energy Chamber is governed by a Board, elected annually by the membership of the Energy Chamber and broadly representative of the main sub-sectors of membership, including contractors and service companies, upstream oil and gas operators, petro-chemical and heavy industrial plants, professional service companies and the financial services sector.

+ What is the relationship between the PLEA Pass Programme and the Energy Chamber Learning Centre?

The Point Lisas Energy Association (PLEA) has entered into an agreement with the Energy Chamber under which the Energy Chamber will initially be the sole provider of assessments for the PLEA 10 hour basic health and safety training course. The Energy Chamber Learning Centre is responsible for conducting all assessments for the PLEA Pass Programme and for issuing PLEA Pass Cards that will be used to determine whether contactor workers have basic HSE knowledge before entering any PLEA member company work site. All workers who have successfully completed the PLEA basic safety assessment will be issued with PLEA Pass Cards with the following course code: PLEA 10

+ How long will it take to get a PLEA Pass after the assessment is completed?

The Energy Chamber Learning Centre will provide individuals successfully completing assessments with updated cards immediately on completion of their assessment and before they leave the Learning Centre.

+ What happens to workers who are unable to read?

The Energy Chamber Learning Centre has proctors who will orally administer the exam to candidates who are unable to read the exam. Successful candidates will be issued with a PLEA Pass card with the following course code: PLEA-10-V Verbal exams are offered twice per week: Tuesday and Thursdays; they must be booked in advance and all fees are non-refundable Those candidates who can read but have difficulty pronouncing or reading some words have the option to do the Verbal recording exam (not proctored)

+ Is the training and assessments being offered in languages other than English?

Currently the Energy Chamber Learning Centre offers the PLEA assessment in two other languages: Korean and Spanish. Some of our training courses are also available in Spanish.
