Baker Hughes has announced a new agreement with Venture Global and GE Vernova for the supply of power generation equipment to support LNG operations and potential future data centre developments in the United States.
The Power Frame Agreement, announced on October 15, establishes a framework for up to 16 new power island units. These will include gas turbines, steam turbines and associated equipment and services.
Under the arrangement, Baker Hughes will also provide electrical integration technology and control systems for each unit, including electrical houses (E-houses).
The agreement builds on power generation systems previously supplied by Baker Hughes for Venture Global's LNG facilities. The companies plan to use the existing design for future developments, with equipment deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2034.
Venture Global expects to place its first purchase order by the end of 2026, with additional orders anticipated from 2027.
The power islands will provide behind-the-meter electricity generation, allowing LNG facilities to produce power for their own operations. The framework also covers potential applications at data centres located near LNG developments.
Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said behind-the-meter power generation has become an important part of LNG operations and the growing demand for electricity associated with artificial intelligence.
The agreement sets out a framework for future orders rather than confirming the purchase of all 16 units. The companies have not disclosed the financial value of the arrangement.
