The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P. has advised that, after consultation with the Minister of Health, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, M.P., the Government is going to allocate a further 5,000 vaccines for application in the Energy sector, when the next tranche of vaccines arrive in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the Ministry of Energy, these further 5,000 vaccines are another milestone in the Government’s commitment to the oil and gas sector, as it has worked collaboratively throughout the pandemic, to keep the sector operational.

It is envisaged that these vaccines will be allocated, inter alia, to service companies that provide direct and support services to the energy sector. The arrangements will be worked out with the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago and Minister Young has already communicated with the President and CEO, Dr Thackwray Driver.

Additionally, the Government will be allocating 1,500 vaccines to NP and Unipet for frontline workers at the many gas stations throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

This proactivity by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries is a continuum of the Government’s “vaccinate to operate” drive as more vaccines become available.

Minister Young pledged the Government’s continued commitment to work with the energy sector to keep Trinidad and Tobago competitive in the global environment.
