Guyana has welcomed the arrival of its fifth floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Errea Wittu, as preparations continue for production from the Uaru development in the Stabroek Block.

The vessel arrived in Guyana on August 21, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources, which described it as the country’s fifth and largest FPSO. The Errea Wittu was constructed by MODEC for the US$12.7 billion Uaru project, which targets more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil.

The FPSO is designed to produce up to 250,000 barrels of oil per day and store approximately two million barrels.

The Ministry said production from Uaru is expected to begin in September 2026. However, Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat separately said first oil is expected in the fourth quarter. MODEC’s project information gives a broader 2026 start-up timeline.

Guyana’s offshore production is currently around 900,000 barrels per day, according to the Ministry. Bharrat said the addition of Uaru is expected to take production above one million barrels per day.

“With first oil expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, production is poised to cross the one-million-barrel-per-day mark,” Bharrat said.

ExxonMobil Guyana Limited operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest. Chevron holds 30% following its acquisition of Hess, while CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited holds the remaining 25%.

The government said it will continue expanding local content opportunities for Guyanese workers and businesses while maintaining disclosure of petroleum revenue receipts through the National Assembly
