Halliburton has secured an integrated services contract from bp for the first appraisal campaign at the Bumerangue discovery in deepwater offshore Brazil.
The contract covers drilling and evaluation services to support reservoir assessment during the appraisal programme. Halliburton said it will deliver the work through an integrated execution model, deploying its LOGIX automation and remote operations technology to support well planning, drilling execution and evaluation using real-time data and automated well construction systems.
“This award reflects Halliburton’s ability to execute complex deepwater projects through a combination of digital solutions, integrated service delivery, and local expertise,” said Francisco Tarazona, the company’s Senior Vice President for Latin America.
Halliburton did not disclose the contract’s value or duration.
Bumerangue sits in Brazil’s pre-salt Santos Basin. Bp announced the discovery in Agust 2025 after its 1-BP-13-SPS exploration well encountered an estimated 500-metre gross hydrocarbon column in a high-quality pre-salt carbonate reservoir. The well was drilled about 404 kilometres offshore Rio de Janeiro in 2,372 metres of water, and bp has said the structure covers more than 300 square kilometres, calling Bumerangue its largest discovery in 25 years.
Bp holds a 100% interest in the Bumerangue block, with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. acting as production-sharing contract manager. Appraisal activities are planned to begin in 2027, subject to the required approvals.
Halliburton announced the contract on August 25, 2026.
