The Honourable Stuart R. Young SC, MP, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister met with His Excellency Balázs Heincz, Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’, International Waterfront Complex, Head-Office, on 12th July, 2024.
At the meeting the parties continued discussions that took place on 17th April, 2024 between Minister Young and His Excellency Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. These discussions included Europe’s gas diversification efforts and the role in Europe’s energy security that Trinidad and Tobago can play. Minister Young highlighted the potential that Trinidad and Tobago has in LNG, Ammonia, Methanol, Urea and UAN production.
Minister Young provided an update on a particular project that the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries is working on with European companies that provides significant carbon reduction as well as the potential of gas supply.
At this time, Hungary holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union which has been financing sustainable energy projects worldwide through its ‘Global Gateway’ strategy. The Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, provided Minister Young with an update on the progress of a project that has the support of the European Union which can amount to market and trade opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago.
Both parties agreed to endeavour towards strengthening the energy relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Hungary in the interest of sustainability and energy security.
