Ministry of Energy & Energy Industries and National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited have won the Best Government Initiative Award at the 2025 Hydrogen Latin America and Caribbean (H2LAC) Industry Awards. The announcement was made during the H2LAC Conference held in São Paulo, Brazil.

The Green Hydrogen (GH2) Pilot Project was selected through a competitive nomination process and reviewed by a panel of esteemed regional experts. The award recognises the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for initiating the first green hydrogen pilot project in the Caribbean.

According to National Energy, the project, which is expected to be completed by Q1 2027, is a key milestone in The Roadmap for a Green Hydrogen Economy in Trinidad and Tobago and will see the integration of green hydrogen into the country’s petrochemical industry. This has the potential to lay the groundwork for long-term decarbonisation and future proofing of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector.
