Touchstone Exploration has brought the new booster compressor at its Cascadura natural gas facility into service, completing an infrastructure project aimed at improving gas production from the onshore field in Trinidad.
The company announced on July 15 that the compressor officially entered service on July 9 following mechanical completion on June 28 and final commissioning.
“All Cascadura wells are now operating on compression and delivering into sales,” Touchstone said in a post on LinkedIn, adding that the milestone reflects the efforts of its team in the field.
The startup follows several months of work to install and commission the unit. In its March operational update, Touchstone said the compressor had successfully completed a two-day factory run test in Houston before being shipped to Trinidad. The equipment arrived in the country on April 23, after which mechanical and electrical installation began at the Cascadura facility.
According to the company, the booster compressor was installed to mitigate elevated sales pipeline pressures of between 650 and 750 pounds per square inch. By reducing wellhead backpressure, the unit is expected to allow gas to flow more efficiently from the wells, supporting improved production performance and operational stability.
Touchstone previously described the compressor as a vital investment that is expected to stabilize short-term production while extending the long-term economic life of the Cascadura field.
In its May operational update, the company said commissioning was expected to begin in June. The latest announcement confirms the project has now been completed, with all Cascadura wells operating under compression and delivering natural gas into the sales network.
