Dr. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz, Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy, Port of Spain, met with a select group of members of the Energy Chamber of Trinidad & Tobago in the downstream gas and heavy industrial sectors, at the Chamber's offices in Point Lisas.  The group discussed business opportunities and the sustainability of the gas-based industrial sector in Point Lisas.

The Point Lisas Industrial Estate, originally incorporated by the Energy Chamber in 1966, has been central to the economic fortunes of Trinidad & Tobago and the strength of Trinidad's gas-based industrial sector.   The Point Lisas estate is intimately tied to the United States, with much of the investment, technology and equipment used in the sector originating in the USA and many of the exports from the estate going to the US market.   Furthermore, every contractor worker who enters any of the facilities in Point Lisas estate has to complete an online training and assessment course managed and certified by the Houston-based HASC and administered by the Energy Chamber once every two years (approximately 10,000 people per annum).

Mala Baliraj, Chair of the Energy Chamber, thanked Dr. Neidhart de Ortiz for taking the time to visit with the industry at this important time and committed to maintaining the excellent ongoing relationship with the US Embassy.
