Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting an Automation Technician to join our team in Chaguanas. Day to day you will be responsible for installation, commissioning and service of our products in the field as well as representing Weatherford as a field contact for our customer. The role will also involve travel to perform services on company or customer work sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Company products, employee will have responsibility to assist with developing and maintaining customer relations.

  • Responsible for interpreting line drawings, product literature. Responsible for planning layout to install and connects wiring to electrical power source using hand-tools.

  • Successfully plan, permit, schedule, and execute the installation of the projects and maintain the proper company documents for each project. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints.

  • Promote the merits of our Products and Company to customers with the intent of increasing sales to the customer.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot automation equipment including VSDs, pump off controllers, PLCs, radios and communications hardware, tank level meters and other various instrumentation equipment.

  • Alignment and calibration of all automation equipment electronics.

  • Support for Red Eye Meter and Foresite Flow Installation, Calibration and Maintenance.

  • Support the Offshore field installation and maintenance of Progressive Cavity Pumps and Driveheads.

  • Support Shop related Gas Lift Valves Calibration

  • Place orders and receive supplies as needed to install, maintain, and repair electronic equipment for assigned automation projects.

  • Perform and maintain records on preventative maintenance of equipment.

  • Travel to job locations to perform emergency repairs on electronics and instrumentation.

  • Provide technical support to operators for all Weatherford automation equipment.

  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford

  • Job Scope: 60% dedicated Automation Systems, 40% dedicated to Artificial Lift Systems

Qualifications

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including long and/or irregular hours including on call availability.

  • 2+ years relevant experience in Communications, Automation, Electronics, and/or Controls

  • Valid driver license

  • Prior experience reading schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Advanced electronics for oil and gas production automation.

  • 2+ years working knowledge of Oilfield electronic control products regarding installation, set-up, and use.

  • Knowledge of Artificial Lift Systems Particularly Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCPs), Reciprocating Rod Lift (RRL) and Gas Lift Systems will be a strong asset.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel)
