Purpose:
Support the implementation, monitoring, coordination, and documentation of all aspects of TOSL’s HSSEQ Management System and in accordance with all regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of HSSE-related activities at all TOSL’s controlled facilities

  • Participate in all HSSE processes aimed at renewing/maintaining present certifications and the acquisition of new HSSE certifications

  • Co-ordinate the Company’s “Environmental Compliance”, “Recycling” and “Hazardous Waste Management” initiatives.

  • Promote best practices in health, safety, security, and environmental matters

  • Participate in the coordination of activities aimed at developing & enhancing HSSE awareness throughout TOSL.

  • Maintain and provide updates to the QHSES Coordinator to ensure compliance with the current HSSE Management System (i.e. procedures/forms/documents, etc.) in accordance with ISO 14001, STOW, OSH Act, and any other legislation, as well as ensuring its effectiveness in relation to our environment

  • Maintain all HSSE tracking systems as required by legislation/TOSL’s HSSEQ-MS

  • Co-ordinate and execute HSSE-related activities such as risk assessments, hazard identification, HSSE inspections, HSSE audits, toolbox meetings, incident investigation and reporting, training programs and tendering/pre-qualification processes

  • Co-ordinate/facilitate both internally & externally, all HSSE-related training for employees and contract personnel as may be required or as directed by the Team Lead – HSSE / QHSES Manager

  • Prepare HSSE correspondence, documents, reports, and presentations as required and communicate with all stakeholders accordingly

  • Ensure the closeout of audit “action” items from both internal and external audits

  • Coordinate TOSL’s HSSE Committee, Health, and Wellness and HSSE Rewards & Recognition programs in collaboration with the Team Lead – HSSE / QHSES Manager

  • Conduct employee onboarding, safety briefings, and orientations for new employees, visitors, subcontractors, etc.

  • Assist with organizing and coordinating TOSL’s HSSE Days/Weeks and any other HSSE initiatives/activities as may be decided by the Team Lead – HSSE / QHSES Manager.

  • Assist with medical management including random drug testing, tracking of occupational health surveillance and medical case management

  • Track man-hours (permanent/contract employees) and compile data on a monthly basis

  • Track Departmental KPI’s on a monthly basis and submits the data for compilation and analysis.

  • Perform any other duties as directed/ assigned

    QHSES:

  • Carry out the authorities for any or all of the activities of the HSSEQ Management System as listed by the Management Representative, which is delegated by the Management Representative.

  • Work with the HSSE Committee to monitor existing/ implement new QHSES related items.

  • Recognize and own responsibility for personal safety

  • Perform duties in a safe manner, observing established QHSES policies & procedures.

  • Identify non-conformances/ observations/ incidents.

  • Participate in the Behavioural Based Safety programme (ONE Card Programme)

  • Stop or refuse unsafe work and report immediately.

  • Immediately report all incidents.

  • Comply with emergency response procedures.

 

Working Conditions & Job Requirements:

The employee will be required to

Qualifications

  • MSc Occupational & Environmental Safety and Health or equivalent professional qualification

  • BSc.  Occupational Safety, Health and Environment or equivalent professional qualification

  • Lead Auditor ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

  • Certificate in First Aid Training

  • Train the Trainer Certification will be an asset

  • TBOSIET & PLEA Training will be an asset

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • In-depth knowledge of STOW, OSH Act

  • Minimum five (5) years working knowledge of HSSEQ-MS
