

Dr. The Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries along with other senior representatives from the Ministry, met separately with executives from major downstream companies, Proman and Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL).
The companies both provided updates on their operations.
At the meeting with Proman, the Ministers welcomed Anand Ragbir and Giselle Thompson and congratulated them on their recent appointments at the company as Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, respectively.
The Proman team also shared updates on its exports of ammonia, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN), and melamine to international markets, reaffirming the importance of Trinidad and Tobago’s contribution to the global petrochemical value chain.
During the meeting with CGCL, the company officials provided an update on its operations and highlighted that its current production and export volume is approximately four million metric tons of methanol. The Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries commended the company’s contributions to its fence line community and called for the sharing of its business acumen within this area, as well as other areas across Trinidad and Tobago. The objective of such sharing would be to encourage and educate citizens towards entrepreneurship, with a deeper focus on growing a business.
The ministers also gave their commitment to work with the stakeholders to further strengthen the energy sector for the benefit of the economy of Trinidad and Tobago.
