Murphy Oil has reported a successful appraisal result at the Bubale West-1X well offshore Côte d’Ivoire, where drilling confirmed oil in the Turonian reservoir.

The well, located in Block CI-103, encountered approximately 27 metres of net oil pay. Murphy also reported additional hydrocarbons in the deeper Albian reservoir.

Preliminary analysis of logs and fluid samples indicates high-quality oil, according to the company.

Bubale West-1X was drilled to a measured depth of about 5,900 metres in water depths of approximately 2,755 metres.

Murphy said the results will be combined with existing subsurface data as it plans the remaining appraisal work at Bubale.

The company operates Block CI-103 through Murphy CI-103 Oil Co. Ltd. with an 85% working interest. Côte d’Ivoire’s national oil company PETROCI holds the remaining 15%.
