T&T CO2 Emissions

T&T CO2 Emissions

Trinidad and Tobago ranks among largest CO2 emitters per capita in the world. This is principally attributed to the concentration of heavy industries operating within the nation and its comparatively small population size. Nevertheless, the country's absolute contribution to global carbon dioxide emissions remains below 0.1%, much smaller than the major emitters such as the China (32%), USA (12%) and India (7%).

Will US clean energy subsidy roll backs create opportunities in the Caribbean?

Will US clean energy subsidy roll backs create opportunities in the Caribbean?

The United States has begun to roll back several energy subsidies and incentives approved under the previous administration's Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Notably, there has been slashes to renewable energy and green hydrogen incentives while tax credits related to carbon capture and sequestration appear to have been preserved. Eliminating the credits for renewable energy projects and green hydrogen projects in the US can potentially signal more attractive investments for these types of projects in other jurisdictions.

Energy Usage & GDP per capita (PPP)

Energy Usage & GDP per capita (PPP)

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of a country is the market value of all the final goods and services produced within a country's borders. For the most part, it is one of the most widely used indicators to measure the size and the performance of a country’s economy. GDP per capita simply divides the GDP by the size of the population. It is a measure of a country's economic output per person and serves as an indicator of the average standard of living and economic well-being of each person. In this instance, the data is adjusted for purchasing power parity.
